Federal MOH has finally approved vaccination from 6 months to 30 years!!. This will start today (Monday) at reception center for all new arrivals in this age group. (Dollo Ado, Ethiopia)

Following last Thursday’s security incident in Dadaab, UNHCR and partner agencies have been continuing life-saving work for hundreds of thousands of refugees. Our staff and more than 30 partners remain operational in Dadaab’s three camps - Ifo, Dagahaley and Hagadera - as well as the new sites of Ifo 2, and Kambioos.

Dollo Ado camps are currently preparing for Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender Violence. The sixteen days in question, Nov 25th to Dec 10th each year, encompass International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, International Human Rights Day, Universal Children’s Day and World AIDS Day. The campaign will use a variety of activities, including sport, music, drama, coffee ceremonies and community discussions. The key message selected by partners for Dollo Ado is \'Peace in the Home, is Peace in the Community. We can end violence against women.

Construction of Transitional Shelters in all camps are ongoing.

Between 1 and 5 Feb, the 8th round of Polio oral vaccination campaign was conducted in Dadaab camps. The last confirmed case of polio in Dadaab was in July 2013

On 8 Jan, UNHCR officially handed over the newly constructed police reporting offices and accommodation blocks for the police in Kambioos camp

As of January 2014, WFP has resumed the normal food basket of 2,100 kcal per person per day after the food rations had to be shortened in Nov and Dec 2013.

On 8 Jan 2014, UNHCR officially inaugurated four buildings that were constructed by Regional Rural Development Organization (RRDO) to support the host community

31 Dec 2013 a fire started in the northern side of Ifo market and burned and completely destroyed over 50 shops including wholesale shops and their goods.

The Voluntary Return Help Desks (RHDs) were officially launched across all five Dadaab camps on 9 December 2013.
