As at 12th November 2014, Kakuma had received 44,151 asylum seekers from South Sudan. This brings the total camp population to 178,995.

12 refugees comprising five families were voluntarily relocated from Pagak entry point to Okugo Refugee Camp.

The international Day of Person with Disability was celebrated during the week of 30-Nov to 08 December in the refugee camps in Gambella region.

The DRC ( Danish Refugees Council ) Head of Communications and Fundraising Mr. Peter Hermann Kamph based in Denmark visited Kakuma from 5th – 9th January.

A total of 139,276 South Sudanese refugees have been assisted in Uganda since the influx began in mid-December 2013, including 88,066 in Adjumani, 12,503 in Arua, 31,369 in Kiryandongo and 7,338 in Kampala.

UNHCR hosted a Canadian Selection Mission in Kakuma from 19 - 23 January 2015 to conduct resettlement interview in the camp and to be updated on the situation.

Registration of South Sudanese has begun under an MoU between the Sudanese Directorate of of Passports and Immigration, the Commissioner for Refugees and UNHCR.

UNHCR facilitated a meeting between Yida Refugee Leaders and the Chiefs of villages near Ajuong Thok, the site of the new refugee camp UNHCR will open in March.
