UNHCR continues to assist thousands of people affected by the eruption of the Mount Nyiragongo volcano near the city of Goma, North Kivu Province.

UNHCR continues to provide assistance to those who have been displaced by the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo in May 2021. In June, UNHCR built two community warehouses in South and North Kivu Provinces to decongest schools and churches and provided IDPs living in collective centres with core relief items (tarpaulins, washing soaps, dignity kits, blankets, mats, individual solar lamps, jerrycans etc.)

UNHCR distributed 20 bicycles to 10 “Village Committees for Peace” in Tanganyika Province to facilitate reporting of protection incidents.

UNHCR distributed cash assistance to 1,116 vulnerable internally displaced families, mainly living in North Kivu Province.

UNHCR distributed core relief items to 12,560 CAR refugees and vulnerable host community members in Nzakara and Limasa, North Ubangi.

UNHCR distributed core relief items to 120 South Sudanese refugees newly relocated to Bele site, Haut-Uele Province.

UNHCR distributed core relief items to 734 families who have been affected by heavy rain and floods in Tanganyika Province.

UNHCR distributed core relief items to over 4,500 displaced households in North Kivu Province.

UNHCR distributed mobile phones to over 1,000 refugee families in Haut Katanga, Lualaba and Tanganyika provinces, which will allow them to receive electronic payments.
