UNHCR and the League of Arab States jointly commemorated World Refugee Day

The opening of “Hoosh Yegam’ana – Child and Community Friendly Spaces” in New Damietta Central Park was celebrated by UNHCR,Terre Des Homme and O’ecumene Studio

On 18 March Elizabeth Tan, UNHCR Representative and Head of Alexandria Field Office Dinesh Shrestha visited the Governor of Damietta to express their gratitude for Damietta’s hospitality to Syrian refugees and to strengthen UNHCR’s relationship with the governorate and its different directorates.

On 23 March, a technical meeting was organized with Ministry of Health officials in Greater Cairo, UN agencies, partner NGOs and Syrian community health volunteers ahead of the mainstreaming on April 1st.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with UNHCR and the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights organized an event titled “Refugees in Egypt”. The event focused on the refugee situation in Egypt and the role of UNHCR in assisting refugees through its international and national partners in Egypt.

The WRD day 2015 event included the launch of the UNHCR Egypt donate page.

In celebration of UN@70 day, Egypt's UN agencies marked the 70th anniversary with an all-day fair on Saturday 24th October. A number of UNHCR community based organizations participated by selling a large variety of products including hand-made jewelry, clothes, accessories, food and art.

On the 5th of January 2016 UNHCR and The Ministry of Health (MOH) in Egypt signed an agreement today on enhancing access of Persons of Concern to UNHCR to public primary health care and referral curative care services. The agreement between UNHCR and The Ministry of Health in Egypt aims at providing an extensive access to all refugees and asylum-seekers registered with UNHCR in Egypt to primary health care and public hospitals in the areas of high concentration of refugees.
