The Tigray conflict continues unabated during the reporting period. The de-facto blockade on humanitarian aid since June 2021 has devastated the region, leading to an increase in begging, theft, prostitution, violence, malnutrition, starvation, and suicide. Chronic and communicable diseases go untreated and are now resulting in preventable deaths. With the support of the regional authorities, UNHCR and humanitarian community, thousands of IDPs have voluntarily returned to the Northern, Central and Southern zones of Tigray in the hope of resuming their livelihoods where possible, despite the lack of recovery assistance and food.
