CGIAR shares on the ‘Building water security for resilient livelihoods’. In the Somali Region of Ethiopia, access and availability of water for livelihoods is a major challenge. Agricultural and pastoral livelihoods are extremely vulnerable to drought and flood events, which are mounting due to environmental/climatic changes. As populations in refugee and hosting settlements grow and demand for water intensifies, UNHCR and other agencies need to develop mechanisms, institutions, and partnerships that will ensure sustained water security for livelihoods.
