FAO-UNHCR: Issue brief - Sustainable Forest Management as Means to Enhance Self-Reliance and Promote Climate Resilience in Displacement Settings

نوع الوثيقة: Reports and Assessments
اللغة: English
The FAO-UNHCR Issue Brief developed in the framework of the ECHO project “Greening the humanitarian response in displacement settings in Djibouti, Somalia, Tanzania and Uganda”. This brief, titled "Sustainable Forest Management as a Means to Enhance Self-Reliance and Promote Climate Resilience in Displacement Settings" highlights the complex interplay between access to natural resources, environmental degradation, climate vulnerability, and social cohesion, all within the context of protecting forcibly displaced people and host communities. It offers key messages for integrated policies on forests, energy, livelihoods, and climate that can inform responses along the Humanitarian, Development, and Peace nexus. The development of the brief was led by FAO Forestry and UNHCR DRS teams but with contributions from our region. Additionally, an article has been posted to launch the brief, coinciding with the closure of COP. The article highlights the importance of including communities in the design of a greener hum
