The presentation will unpack insights from Re:BUiLD’s recent studies on the impacts of mentorship and cash on refugee and host livelihoods in Nairobi and Kampala. The findings reveal uneven outcomes, e.g. showing that sometimes mentorship can have regressive impacts on women. The session goes beyond the main findings on what works, what doesn’t, for whom, to do a deeper review of WHY mentorship and cash did not work for some. It includes particular attention to gender, context, and program design, surfacing practical lessons for inclusive and effective livelihood programming.
