Colombia remains at the epicentre of the human mobility crisis in the Americas. Despite the 2016 Peace Agreement and ongoing negotiations under the Government’s “Total Peace” policy, armed conflict has intensified in several regions, exacerbating protection risks and humanitarian needs. In 2026, UNHCR will prioritize strengthening national and local protection systems, boosting preparedness for large‑scale displacement, and advancing durable, area‑based solutions in the country’s most affected areas. Building on its network of 14 field offices and 19 PAOs, UNHCR works to reinforce community‑based protection mechanisms, expand access to documentation and asylum, and support authorities in delivering vital services during emergencies. Despite significant funding constraints, UNHCR will continue coordinated action with government entities, civil society and international partners to safeguard rights, promote socio‑economic inclusion, and strengthen the resilience of displaced and host communities.
