In line with the Global Compact on Refugees, one of the key objectives of which is to ease the pressure on host countries, and with respect to the Government of Mauritania’ strong pledges for the inclusion of refugees in national systems made at the Global Refugee Forum (2019), UNHCR in Mauritania works to ensure that its activities also benefit the host community. UNHCR actively supports the Government's policy of inclusion and engages with host and refugee communities in all aspects of its work, including efforts to include refugees in national systems, develop mutual trust, strengthen natural resource management and promote peaceful coexistence.
