The humanitarian situation in Somalia remains dire with drought alerts being sounded. Somalia has been characterized by clan and armed conflict which still continue in the south even after establishment of a federal government in 2012. Severe human rights violations and impunity represent the situation in Somalia. As a result of conflict target locations have high Internally Displaced People (IDP) influx as people move to places considered secure in search of humanitarian aid. Repetitive cycles of drought leading to acute water shortage amongst its population has led to loss of livelihoods, waterborne disease outbreaks and lack of food resulting from crop failures. There are over 300,000 reported malnourished children in Somalia and a total nearing a million people are in need of life-saving help.
