Ukrainian program at Piarista Secondary School
Piarista Gymnasium is one of the oldest public schools in the city. It belongs to the order of the same name with its mission of education for children in need. At the outbreak of the war, teachers and volunteers set up a daycare program for Ukrainian families who had fled to Budapest. The program developed into an educational center that helps Ukrainian kids to catch up with their studies in Hungarian schools and teaches 180 students from Ukraine every week. -

Parasolka Foundation
Parasolka
Parasolka Foundation was established in May 2022 as an initiative to provide a safe space and engaging activities for refugee children from Ukraine. Since September 2023, we have been operating as a registered foundation. On May 16, 2024, the name Parasolka was changed to Parasolka Foundation in memory of Rachel Dov, a young Israeli girl who was murdered during the Hamas attack on the Nova Festival on October 7, 2023. Our Activities • Educational Programs: We run approximately 70 weekly lessons, including structured courses such as language classes requiring regular attendance and flexible, one-time registration lessons (mainly DIY workshops) for kids age 4.5-10 This approach allows us to accommodate both regular participants and occasional visitors. • School-to-Parasolka Service: We provide transportation for children from Ukrainian schools directly to Parasolka, giving parents greater flexibility. • Teen Programs: We offer various activities for teenagers, including cooking lessons, billiards, and board games. Our Impact • Over 70 weekly lessons catering to children and teenagers. • A structured yet flexible model that supports both consistent and occasional participation. • A welcoming space for Ukrainian refugee children and teenagers in Hungary. Our Approach We believe in inclusivity and accessibility. All our programs are free of charge for individuals who arrived in Hungary from Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
