On 7 – 21 May 2017, the County Civil Registrar, upon invitation by UNHCR Sub-Office Kakuma, issued 1,279 birth certificates and 231 death certificates to refugees in the Kakuma Operation. Out of the 1,279 birth certificates issued, 13 were renewals while 5 were late registration.

UNHCR launched the 2017 Supplementary Appeal for the Burundi Situation. Currently 2% of the overall funding requirements (US$ 250 million) has been received. More funding is urgently needed to increase capacity and to decongest overcrowded camps.

As of 16 May, UNHCR has received 24% of the USD 79.8 million requested for the Yemen situation. The funding gap stands at USD 60.7 million.

USD $221.7 million across 19 key partners is now required to address the increased needs of an estimated 477,000 refugees in Sudan by the end of 2017.
