Jordan - Families moved today from the Bashabshe facility to the newly renovated Cyber City building in Ramtha. Work is also continuing on the King Abdullah Park site.

Jordan - WFP have begun the distribution of food packages to vulnerable Syrians through implementing partners JHCO and the Jordanian Red Crescent.

Le Haut-Commissaire des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés, Monsieur Antonio Guterres et de Madame Ertharin Cousin, Directrice Exécutive du Programme Alimentaire Mondial étaient au Niger du 04 au 07 Mai 2012. Lors de cette visite, le Haut-Commissaire a appelé la communauté internationale à aider les réfugiés maliens et les populations d'accueil. Il a aussi mis l'accent sur le fait qu’une solution politique urgente devrait être trouvée afin d'éviter que la situation dans la région du Sahel se transforme en une crise globale.

The second geographical coordination meeting took place today at Ramtha, with the Regional Refugee Coordinator, Panos Moumtiz in attendance. The meeting was predominantly technical in focus, with a discussion taking place on the challenges faced by the community in Ramtha. Water has emerged as a key challenge, as the presence of the Bashabshe, Cyber City and the King Abdullah Park site place increasing pressure on the ability of the local governorate to deliver water to both the host community and the facilities. Reiterating the words of UNHCR Representative, Andrew Harper, it is critical that host communities receive support from donors.

UNHCR Jordan registered a record number of individuals during April, with 7362 Syrian individuals presenting themselves at the Amman office.

Home visits have helped UNHCR and partners register close to 400 children in the Bekaa for remedial classes scheduled to begin next week.

UNHCR and partners continue to address growing needs, such as health and hygiene promotion, in the Bekaa in regards to mapping water sources. Water and Sanitation (WASH) experts are looking at water treatment options.

Jordan- The first Mafraq geographical coordination meeting took place today, following last week's successful Ramtha geographical coordination meeting. The Geographical meetings are part of an effort to ensure effective coordination on the ground beyond the capital, in areas with large Syrian populations. Attendees include officials from Government of Jordan, local governorate, community based organisations along with national and international Agencies, and NGOs.

The population of Dollo Ado camps and Transit Centre passed the milestone figure of 150,000.
