The number of refugees relocated from Dadaab\'s outskirts to Ifo II, III and Kambioos reaches 26,855.

UNHCR relocates more than 22,300 refugees from the Dadaab outskirts into both sides of Ifo extension (Ifo II & Ifo III) and the new Kambioos site.

Some 259 refugees relocated from the outskirts of Dagahaley to Ifo II on 18 August. Simulteneously, the exercise to relocate refugees from the outskirts of Ifo to the Ifo 3 part of the extension continues.

The relocation of people into the new Ifo Extension, which began on 25 July, is continuing. So far, UNHCR and its partners have moved nearly 18,000 refugees into the part of Ifo Extension formerly referred to as Ifo 3.

On 11 August Kakuma was inundated with torrential rains which caused flooding in various parts of the camp and surrounding areas. Many refugee shelters were destroyed and dykes and river banks were severely eroded in a number of locations placing refugees and humanitarian workers at risk. A vehicle ferrying passengers from Lokichoggio to Kakuma was washed away while trying to cross a seasonal river in Turkana West District, and 8 people lost their lives; it is believed that some among the dead were Sudanese on their way to Kakuma to seek asylum.
