A MSF medical warehouse in the MSF Dagahaley residential compound went on fire on 4 Jan. Drugs, medical equipment and therapeutic food stock burnt to ashes.

On 11 August Kakuma was inundated with torrential rains which caused flooding in various parts of the camp and surrounding areas. Many refugee shelters were destroyed and dykes and river banks were severely eroded in a number of locations placing refugees and humanitarian workers at risk. A vehicle ferrying passengers from Lokichoggio to Kakuma was washed away while trying to cross a seasonal river in Turkana West District, and 8 people lost their lives; it is believed that some among the dead were Sudanese on their way to Kakuma to seek asylum.
One Aid worker shot;two abducted in Dadaab\'s Ifo 2 West on the afternoon of 13 October 2011. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees expressed his \"deep shock and indignation\" at the violent abduction of the two female MSF staff and the shooting of their driver.
“These MSF colleagues were working to rescue lives,” he said. “It is wholly unacceptable that they should be made targets for kidnap. I appeal to those responsible to facilitate their immediate and safe return.”
