2,400 individuals nationwide benefited from primary healthcare services

During the reporting period, UNHCR implementing partner, Caritas, carried out a distribution in Mafraq in the north of Jordan. The distribution package included blankets, mattresses, school kits, hygiene kits and sanitation kits along with other much needed household items. The number of beneficiaries for this distribution was 45 families, and was part of a three day process reaching out to families, single males, and single females with targeted assistance.

UNHCR implementing partner JHAS has carried out three Non-Food Items distribution in recent days in Ma\'an, Zarqa and Amman. The distribution was for 420 individuals, including 137 families.

New working group has been formed in response to Syrian situation, \"Children and GBV,\" recognising that not only children and women are affected in emergencies - but also men.

UN Agencies are increasing staff, with UNHCR expanding the registration team to speed up process, along with the arrival of some 13 emergency specialists, for WASH, Camp Management, Site Planning and Coordination.

Home visits have helped UNHCR and partners register close to 400 children in the Bekaa for remedial classes scheduled to begin next week.

UNHCR Jordan registered a record number of individuals during April, with 7362 Syrian individuals presenting themselves at the Amman office.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoHE) in Lebanon has appointed focal points within the Ministry to support the work of UNHCR and partners. This work will include liaising between UNHCR and public schools in the area to facilitate the implementation of educational activities.
