For more than 4 years, humanitarian agencies have provided relief for Burundian refugees but funding consistently falls short.

Seventy-four per cent of Tanzania’s refugees and asylum seekers are from Burundi, and the other 26 per cent are from the DRC. The vast majority live in camps close to the border areas, and many have been there for decades.

Burundi is one of the most neglected refugee situations globally. And measurably so; In 2018 it was among the world’s least-funded.
