By the end of August 2023, a total of 8.9 million people remain displaced within and from South Sudan and Sudan. This includes 2.2 million refugees from South Sudan and a further 1.3 million refugees from Sudan, as well as 1.5 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in South Sudan and 3.8 million IDPs in Sudan.
