UNHCR welcomes Japan’s announcement of USD 1.8 million in funding to support over 245,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in Yemen. The Government and people of Japan have generously contributed USD 1.8 million to protect and assist internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities across Yemen. Japan’s funding will relieve the dire conditions of thousands of vulnerable displaced families affected by conflict throughout Yemen, one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. As the economic situation deteriorates, protection and humanitarian needs are rising for displaced persons at a rapid pace and durable solutions are still limited.
