Providing clean and affordable energy is a key catalyst for sustainable development in all countries. Access to energy enhances access to education and economic opportunities, increases safety, and improves the provision of health services; all are components of UNHCR’s mandate to protect forcibly displaced people. These reports present case studies of clean and transitional energy interventions in refugee communities implemented by UNHCR, the government, and partners. Energy-related approaches from these case studies can be adapted and replicated in other refugee-hosting countries as a means of meeting the basic needs of displaced people, improving their well-being and, when feasible, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through the provision of energy.
