Since the beginning of the escalation of war in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, UNHCR Poland, together with Protection Sector partners, has been actively monitoring protection risks affecting refugees fleeing the hostilities. As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen protection analysis and joint advocacy, the Protection Sector worked with partners in the initial phase of the Ukraine emergency and the first joint interagency product was published in May 2022. A second joint product, issuing recommendations on the application of the Temporary Protection Directive in Poland, was published in December 2022. The Protection Monitoring Task Force, established in March 2023, aims to harmonize protection monitoring tools, join efforts on data collection and produce joint analysis.
