Afghanistan Priority Areas of Return and Reintegration (PARR) Factsheet for Mehterlam, Laghman, Eastern Region 2024: Mehterlam is the capital city of Laghman Province and is the only large urban settlement area in the province. It is located in the valley of Alishung and Alingar rivers, 47 Km Northwest of the city of Jalalabad. The district has vast irrigated land with its people mainly working in agriculture. It has 51 villages, and the main towns include Chardihi, Tagri, Haydar Khani, Umarzi, Pashi, Alishing, Daiziarat, Shamangul, Taj Kari and Basram. Mihtarlam havebeen a high return districts across the region. 5,416 undocumented returnees and 1,386 documented returnees returned to Miherlam district from October 2023 up to August 2024.
