Since September 23, more than 220,000 people have crossed from Lebanon to Syria due to escalating conflict. Following airstrikes near the Masnaa border, the number of daily arrivals through Jdaidet Yabous dropped by 75%. Many redirected to other border points like Homs and Tartous. UNHCR has expanded its presence at a fifth border crossing, Jesr Al Qmar, and continues to provide transportation support for vulnerable individuals. On 7 October, an emergency appeal for the influx will be launched in Damascus. The Syrian government extended the waiver for the US$ 100 entry fee, easing the entry process for Syrians.
