On 20 January, the Council of Ministers adopted a new version of the draft Act phasing out the temporary solutions introduced under the so‑called Special Act on Assistance to Ukrainian Citizens in Connection with the Armed Conflict on the Territory of Ukraine. The adopted draft differs slightly from the version regarding which stakeholders, including civil society organisations, had previously submitted their remarks. On 22 Jan the draft was submitted to the Parliament. No further timeline is set yet. The Act provides for a gradual repeal of the Special Act and the transfer of provisions concerning temporary protection into the Act of 13 June 2003 on Granting Protection to Foreigners within the Territory of the Republic of Poland. The legislative intent is to align national regulations more closely with the EU temporary protection framework. Its planned date of entry into force is 4 March 2026.
