The humanitarian landscape across Asia and the Pacific remains fragile. Conflicts, climate shocks and protracted crises intersect with changing asylum policies and shrinking humanitarian funding. Despite these pressures, host countries continue to demonstrate long-standing solidarity, even as protection systems come under strain. Forcibly displaced and stateless people require sustained protection and viable pathways forward, as the Afghanistan and Myanmar situations continue to shape regional dynamics. In 2026, UNHCR is reprioritizing its response amid funding shortfalls, strengthening efficiency and partnerships to deliver protection and solutions. Key priorities include protection, life-saving emergency response, safe and dignified voluntary repatriation, local integration, resettlement, and complementary pathways.
