Following the successful election and inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Internally Displaced Persons from Chibok and Gwoza, currently residing in Wasa 2, Abuja have called on him to totally liberate their communities and state of all Boko Haram elements so that they can return home; even as philanthropist, Hon Kenneth Ibe-Kalu offered temporary relief to them.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Sunday when Hon Ibe-Kalu visited the IDPs camps to celebrate his birthday with them over the weekend, one of the IDPs, Haruna Wadda said with the coming of president Buhari, there were high hopes among the people in camps that the security problem will be handled.CHibok-10

Speaking further, Wadda noted that the living condition in the camp in Wasa is very discouraging and the best gift Buhari would give them is to liberate their communities so that they can return home and continue rebuilding their lives.

According to him, “we left our homes when the Boko Haram sect intensified their attacks and some of our wives, husbands, brothers, sisters and even children were killed while we were running. We practically sleep outside and are prone to all kinds of danger one can imagine.

“We are not here by choice, we are here because this is the only community that allowed us to settle in. It would really be a thing of joy to hear that the new government under president Buhari has successfully tackled the insurgents so that we can return home.”

Speaking on the level of assistance the group gets, Wadda noted that apart from people like the Hon Ibe-Kalu and his group, the Mass Movement for Buhari, who always come to offer them food and relief items, there are no other prominent people who have visited or offered assistance to them.

Wadda further explained that attempts to reach out to the senator from Gwoza, Senator Ali Ndume, the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima and any other honourable members for assistance have not yielded results, as they have all abandoned them to their fate and that is why they only depend on President Buhari for liberation of their communities so that they can return home.

“What we have got from our representatives in the National Assembly and even our governor is total abandonment. No one has said anything or assisted us in any way except for these villagers and Hon Ibe-Kalu, who has been visiting us with his group. This is why we really want Buhari to liberate our villages so that we can stop this begging and start making our own money at our homes,” Wadda pleaded.
