Bridge, library commissioned into service in Mon state

Bilin, 15 July—A rural bridge and library were opened in Paingdawei Village of Bilin Township in Mon State on Monday, officials said.

“The newly-opened bridge will make the flow of commodities from our village and six other villages easier to the urban market. The library will also help to improve literacy among local people, “said retired teacher U Saw Tun Tun Oo of Paingdawei Village.

The Department of Rural Development spent K18 million, with locals paying K6 million on construction of the reinforced concrete bridge which is 40 feet long and 18 feet wide.

The Mon State Government allotted K1 million and Paingdawei monastery Sayadaw and local people K4.5 million for construction of the “Youth Capacity” library.

The Township Administrator,the head of Township Information and Public Relations Department and nine well wishers donated books and various publications worth K111,500 to the library.
