Early Childhood Education subject to be added for KG students

THE Yangon University of Education is planning to added early childhood education subject for kindergarten students according to Prof. Dr Aye Aye Myint of the Yangon University of Education.
KG teachers will also have to learn teaching methodology related to the new subject for KG teaching. It is known that some teachers are teaching KG students without having attended teachers’ training courses on preschool education.
“This can have evil effects on the children. So, we will conduct an early childhood education diploma course”, the professor said.
The course will begin in the second semester of this academic year. There may be an entrance exam depending on the number of applicants, it has been learned.
The curriculum of the course has been prepared by the US Open Society Foundation (OSF), which will also provide teaching/ learning aids. In addition, OSF will hold a discussion with course attendees. The course will be opened as a Human Resources Development (HRD) Diploma course in collaboration with UNICEF, NGOs and academics, it is reported.
