Local and foreign investments create nearly 16,000 new jobs

In late May and June, local and foreign investments created nearly 16,000 new jobs, according to the Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration.

Foreign investments created 8,866 jobs in May and 4,415 in June while citizen investments created 1,766 jobs in May and 993 in June.

During two months, the industry sector saw the highest foreign investment with over US$ 254 million, followed by other service sector with over US$ 71 million, according to Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC).

During the minibudget period (April to September), citizen investments granted by the MIC amounted to Ks-30084.902 million in May and Ks-35596.090 million in June.

During two months, the jobs created by FDI for locals are: 40 in farming sector, 12940 in industry sector, 18 in hotels and tourism sector and 283 in other service sector.
