UEC to release by-election candidate lists in August

Union Election Commission (UEC) will release the lists of candidates who will compete in the upcoming by-election scheduled on November 3, on August 6, said the UEC’s member Myint Naing.
There are 69 candidates from 24 political parties, including seven independent candidates, according the UEC.
“All candidates are qualified for the by-election. The lists of candidates will be announced at respective sub-commission offices,” Myint Naing who is also a spokesperson of the UEC added.
The UEC announced the lists of eligible voters for by-election from July 9 to 22 for the first time. In October, the UEC will announce eligible voter lists for 14 days for the second time. Till now, no complaint has been received about the release of voter lists, according to the UEC.
