Escalating hostilities and evacuation orders over the past two weeks have triggered large-scale displacement across Lebanon, with over 1 million people displaced and significant casualties reported. Displacement from southern regions and Beirut’s southern suburbs has concentrated in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, placing immense pressure on already overstretched public services and shelter capacity. Protection risks have sharply increased, particularly for women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities, with heightened exposure to gender-based violence (GBV), exploitation, and trafficking. Overcrowded shelters, lack of privacy, and limited access to services are exacerbating safeguarding concerns and restricting safe reporting of protection incidents. Children are showing growing signs of psychological distress linked to displacement and exposure to violence.
