The report contains the results from the first-ever study of cash aid in a refugee setting. GiveDirectly delivered US$1,000 to all of the approx. 10,000 refugee households in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement in Uganda and about 5,000 host community households in the nearby district. As the evaluation partner, IDinsight conducted an impact evaluation to examine the impact of cash transfers on households and to inform future decision-making about cash programs by donors and implementing organizations. The full study on cash transfers for refugees was published today here, which found sizable increases in consumption, business ownership, assets, and psychological well-being.
