Six people were reportedly killed while one person sustained gun-shot injury when suspected members of Boko Haram sect invaded Goniambari village in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. The insurgents, according to sources, also destroyed some houses and vehicles using Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, and petrol bombs before looting foodstuff and livestock. The incident, according to a fleeing resident, Mallam Modu Abari, occurred on Monday between 6:30pm to 7pm. Goniambari village is 15-km drive from Beneshiekh, the council headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area of the state. Kaga is south west and about 80 kilometres drive from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Just last Saturday, four members of the Civilian JTF and a volunteer were killed with four others injured when their patrol Hilux vehicle stepped on landmines planted by terrorists in Buma village, Ngamdu District of Beneshiekh. A reliable security source, who is not authorised to speak to the press, confirmed to National Mirror that the incident occurred between 6:30 pm and 7pm, when the virtually all Muslim residents were performing ablution for Magrib prayers. The source, who said the terrorists targeted the evening prayers to cause the most mayhem as almost the entire population would be performing their prayers, advised citizens to be very alert and report any suspicious movement to security operatives for prompt action. All efforts to get confirmation from the Borno Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Isuku, proved abortive as his phone lines were not accessible as at press time.
