Land confiscated by the Military was given back to their owner with temporary property documentations by the State Government in Kayah (Karenni).
More than 1065 acres within Loikaw Township and 2523.80 acres within Hpruso Township were given back in total.

These land include 637 acres from the No. 362 artillery base within Loikaw Township are 427 acres from the Nywe Shaw detention base in Hpruso Twonship.

“Several hundred of acres of land taken over by the military are still being considered for redistribution by the government” said the District Administration of Land Committee chairperson U Aung Shwe.

He also mentioned that, “there are 127 applicants that need to be processed before being given temporary property documents”.

A farmer from Lo Pi Dat, Mike Kan village, who was given such temporary documents expressed some concerns about how reliable they were and why the government should have been done with the usual 105 form which is legal: “We the farmers are nothing and we have to accept what we are given. Of course, I hope to be given permanent documents rather than this temporary one”.
