Myanmar to Hold First Ever Ethnics Culture Festival in Yangon

Myanmar will hold its first ever Ethnics Culture Festival in Yangon to feature the unity of ethnic nationals, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.

The six-day festival is organized by the Myanmar Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association, and will run from January 25-30, starting at 8 am in Kyite Ka San Football Stadium in Yangon, and the entry is free.

It aims to showcase friendship and unity of Myanmar’s ethnic nationals, to support peace yearned for by the people. It will help raise awareness for cultural traditions and natural beauty ethnic lands for both locals and foreigners, and will promote travel businesses.

Exhibits will display cultural traditions and products of ethnic nationals. There will also be an ethnic night market, where food from all ethnicities and religions will also be introduced.

Famous singers will entertain the crowds with songs, and each ethnic national will perform a dance.

In addition, Miss Ethnic Myanmar 2019, will be selected and the winner will represent the association as an ambassador to promote friendship and peace among ethnic nationals.

The first prize for the winner is 15 million kyats ($10,000 U.S. dollars), and a gold crown with eight gems. The runner-up will receive seven million kyats, and other prizes. The third place winner will receive three million kyats.

A total of 10 additional titles will also be awarded, the report added.
