During a High Level Technical Meeting on March 27 and 28 in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) , the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), together with the Institute of Public Policies and Human Rights of MERCOSUR (IPPDH), convened institutional representatives of South American countries receiving refugees and migrants from Venezuela to exchange experiences about the challenges and opportunities for the protection of Venezuelan children and adolescents.
With the presence of technical representatives from national institutions of the refuge, child protection and migration sectors of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, this meeting aimed to identify challenges and opportunities, and delineate some technical suggestions to be considered by existing regional coordination spaces such as MERCOSUR, the Quito Process, the South American Conference on Migration (CSM), among others.
