As of June 2023, Somalia was host to 35,996 registered refugees and asylum seekers, mainly from Ethiopia and Yemen. Some 730,740 Somali refugees and asylum seekers are also hosted in the neighbouring countries and a further 2.97 million persons internally displaced inside Somalia. Over 7,400 Somali refugees have returned to Somalia since January 2020.
