When faced with recurring crises, individual and community resilience is closely tied to the ability of markets to function. Market Systems Resilience (MSR) focuses on how market systems survive and recover in the face of shocks and stresses. An MSR lens helps practitioners assess system resilience to address immediate needs while promoting sustainable, transformative systems change. This brief explains MSR concepts, offers tools to get started, and shares insights from interviews with ten practitioners who have applied MSR. This document is part of a learning exercise on MSR for the MiC Community of Practice, and it seeks to provide guidance for humanitarian and development practitioners on applying an MSR lens
