Severe drought conditions are currently affecting large parts of central and northern areas of Somalia, particularly the regions of Nugaal, Mudug, Bari and Sanaag. The failure of the Gu rainfall season has led to drying up of key water sources, including birkas, shallow wells and boreholes.
