Pakistan has for more than four decades been a place of refuge for Afghans fleeing conflict, persecution, and poverty in their country of origin. In recent years, however, the protective environment in the country has significantly deteriorated, as long‑standing hospitality has given way to uncertainty, fear, and vulnerability for Afghan refugees and migrants.
