During the reporting period, significant progress was made in advancing protection and durable solutions in Burundi. Key developments included strengthened regional cooperation on voluntary repatriation, the completion of the biometric registration exercise for Congolese refugees in Busuma, and the continued implementation of facilitated voluntary returns to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The commemoration of World Refugee Day further highlighted refugee resilience and reinforced advocacy efforts. Despite these achievements, humanitarian and protection challenges persist in transit centres, underscoring the need for sustained support and coordinated response efforts.
