No fewer than 50 internally-displaced persons (IDPs) from Chibok, Borno State, camped at Pegi, Kuje area council of the FCT, have graduated from skills acquisition training organised by the TY Danjuma Foundation and All Children Charity International Foundation. The training was in bead-making, shoes making, clothing, among others.

The chief executive of TY Danjuma Foundation, Dr. Sunday Udoh, commended the trainees for the successful completion of the training and urged them to be good ambassadors of the organisers.

He said, “In partnership with ACCIF, the foundation is happy to contribute its quota in this direction through skills acquisition training for displaced persons at Pegi village. I encourage the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the skills and train others as well.”

The founder of ACCIF, Barr Ronte Daudu, urged the public to patronise the goods produced by the trainees. She said they were of high qualities, and if encouraged, would boost the country’s economy.

She said: “There is no need importing goods we can produce locally. One of the ways to encourage this, is patronage and rebranding. The displaced persons came into this camp depressed, but today they have acquired skills that will make them self-reliant. I thank TY Danjuma Foundation for this support.”

Pastor Jacob M. Ndirmbula, who trained in shoes making, said he would embark on free training of people to reciprocate the gesture, and advised displaced persons caused by Boko Haram to strive to be self-reliant.

Highlights of the events included presentation of five babies born by the trainees, distribution of working tools to beneficiaries, and exhibition of the products made in the camp, and presentation of certificates.
