Myanmar implements elderly healthcare services with Japan

YANGON- Myanmar is now carrying out healthcare services of elderly persons together with Japan.
At present, there are 300,000 job vacancies in Japan in the to elder care industry, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
“We want to train Myanmar youths that wants to participate in the Japanese care services of the elderly people. At present, we need to fill 300,000 job vacancies for the care of elderly people in Japan,” said Hideo Watanabe, Chairman of Japan-Myanmar Friendship Association.
Union Minister for Health Dr Myint Htwe replied that Myanmar will open vocational training schools for elderly caregivers in the compound of Yangon General Hospital in cooperation with the Japanese Sakura Company.
Myanmar teachers, together with their Japanese counterparts, are now carrying out vocational training courses with Japanese Syllabus. He urged the Japan-Myanmar Friendship Association to support the process.
On August 17, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe held discussion with officials from Polestar KAIGO Service Co., Ltd from Japan, on a plan to open vocational training schools for elderly caretakers.
The discussion mainly focused on cooperation with Department of Human Professional Resources Development and Management on necessary preparations for training rooms, syllabus and teaching aid as well as the fixing of qualifications required for those who want to attend the course and employment opportunities as qualified trainees in the elderly care centers in Japan after the completion of course.
It is a six-month full-time course. Trainees will have to learn theory and practical aspects of nursing courses conducted by Japanese instructors.
Japanese government has offered Myanmar government to rapidly sent Myanmar workers to work in elderly care centers in Japan, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population.
Myanmar workers will have to enjoy the minimum salary rate fixed by the Japanese government.
Japan is one of the worst affected countries in the world from aging population, a phenomena that distinguished itself as a problem humanity will have to tackle going forward as countries get more developed.
