YBS Card System Coming Within Six Months

Yangon Bus Service (YBS) will be installing card payment systems to 2000 of its buses within six months, said Naw Pan Thinzar Myo, Kayin ethnic affairs minister at the two year anniversary of the launch of the service, on Wednesday.
The Yangon Payment System (YPS) will be installed by Asia Starmar Transport Intelligent Company, which has received a permit from Myanmar Investment Commission and signed a Memorandum of Understanding after winning the tender for the job.
Plans have also been made to install YPS in 4000 buses in nine months and if a top-up of K1000 is made to the first batch of 100,000 cards, fees for the card will be waived, said Naw Pan Thinzar Myo.
The card machines will be installed near the front and rear doors of each bus. There are also plans for YPS to be installed on the Yangon Water Bus.
Asia Starmar Transport Intelligent Company was selected over Excel KC Myanmar and AnyPay Payment Services Co as the most qualified candidate to install YPS.
Initially, Excel KC Myanmar was the winner of the tender for YPS in January 2018 but the government revoked its status in April as the company did not have the necessary qualifications to implement the system.
