The Blue Forest Foundation was established in 2017 by Mariann Hornyák to support children and adults with sensory processing disorders in fulfilling their social roles. Our goal is to create an accepting and inclusive atmosphere for all members of the Foundation that promotes inclusion and equal opportunities. Since many families have fled Ukraine since February 2022 due to the war, we realized that a dedicated space was necessary to support the large number of children with special educational needs. As a result, we provided administrative support to a team of Ukrainian specialists who launched a project called AKSEN – Assistance to Kids with Special Educational Needs.

The Municipality of Budapest does not own any health care institutions (primary care and outpatient specialist care belong to the district local governments, hospital inpatient care belong to the State). Budapest city government owns high number of elderly homes and also responsible for homeless care services throughout the city (community based services – such as home care – are supervised by local governments). Budapest runs the public transport of the city, the public cleaning services, waste transport, drinking water supply services, chimney cleaning services, and public park maintenance.
