Domiz 1 refugee camp was established in 2012 to host Syrian refugees. By May 2013, the camp had reached its full capacity. Since its opening, UNHCR and partners have provided essential protection and services to the camp’s population, with relevant government departments gradually assuming responsibility for service provision over recent years. UNHCR supports the Ministry of Interior’s Directorate of Migration and Crisis Response (MoI/DMCR) which have sub-contracted the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), to manage and coordinate services for the camp.
