Sudan's Crisis: Navigating Disparities, Resilience, and Recovery for Refugees, I DPs, and Host Communities

Document Type: Reports and Policy Papers
Document Language: English
Sudan is navigating one of its most complex development and humanitarian crises in recent history. The conflict, which broke out in April 2023, has resulted in a large displacement crisis, taken an enormous toll on lives and livelihoods of Sudanese people, and caused large scale destruction to Sudan’s infrastructure and economy. At the same time, the country continues to host one of Africa’s largest protracted refugee populations, estimated at over 850,000 people. Widespread displacement, deepening hunger, collapsing education systems, strained healthcare, and limited job prospects are converging into a multifaceted crisis and development challenge.
