Working Group Description

The Durable Solutions Working Group was formed in September 2017 to create a collaborative platform for stakeholders focused on durable solutions, including returns, resettlement, and complementary pathways. Its was established to provide a forum for information exchange and discussion by humanitarian and development partners on durable solutions for refugees. While durable solutions for refugees typically encompass resettlement, local integration, or repatriation, the evolving political landscape in Syria has created a renewed focus on Syrian refugees in Jordan who seek to return home. This situation has prompted the working group to re-organize its efforts around information sharing, discussion, and planning to support the voluntary return of Syrian refugees, ensuring their safe repatriation, all while upholding essential protection principles for refugees.
