Description

The Socio-Economic Survey of Refugees in Jordan (or, “VAF Survey”) is the primary interagency assessment used to monitor the socio-economic conditions and vulnerabilities of refugees in Jordan. Led by UNHCR in collaboration with partners, the VAF provides a standardized evidence base to support protection, programming, targeting, planning, and policy decisions. The VAF Survey is implemented using harmonized methodologies to enable consistent monitoring of trends over time while adapting to emerging operational priorities and information needs from the Intersector Working Group. The survey is undertaken every two years, covers a representative sample of all refugees registered with UNHCR Jordan. The dataset provides disaggregated indicators by nationality, location, sex, age, and other population characteristics, enabling detailed analysis of refugee needs and vulnerabilities. The microdata is available on UNHCRs Microdata Library (see the links section below). Survey findings are published through analytical reports, indicator dashboards, and thematic output tables that support humanitarian response planning, vulnerability analysis, and evidence-based decision-making across sectors. The VAF Survey is complemented by the Socioeconomic Update on Refugees in Jordan, which is a shorter phone-based survey on a representative sample of registered refugees in Jordan.
